Community Health and Development is an Agency dedicated to providing primary health care and training in rural areas in Karnataka that have no access to basic or specialized health care .Established in early 1990s CHAD has collaborated with local agencies and individuals in over 30 rural communities and had day long medical camps with follow up done through the organizing agencies. The team consists of doctors of various specializations and other volunteers who dedicate their time free of charge for this service whenever a camp is organized. Many pharmaceutical companies have come forward to support this initiative by supplying medicines and vitamins that are distributed during the camp. The follow up includes education on health and hygiene and brainstorming along with the locals to find solutions that can be implemented by themselves and with external support to overcome particular health challenges in their areas. CHAD also offers health check ups in schools for underprivileged children and orphanages in and around Bangalore on a regular basis.
